Made from juniper berries and enhanced by lovely floral fragrances, gin is actually the perfect spirit to put you in the holiday mood. Our friends at Plymouth Gin and Beefeater Gin shared some recipes to help get your holiday party started with wintry gin cocktails!
Figgy Pudding Fizz
· 2 oz Plymouth Gin
· 1 oz Fig Syrup*
· ¼ oz Fresh-squeezed Orange juice
· ½ oz Fresh-squeezed Lemon juice
· ¼ oz Allspice Liqueur
· 1 Egg white
· 1 oz Heavy Cream
· Top Club Soda
*Simmer 1 part water, 1 part sugar, and approximately 5-6 dried, diced figs.
Directions: Add all ingredients except club soda to a mixing glass, and dry shake for 10-30 seconds. Open the shaker and add ice, then shake vigorously. Pour into a highball glass with no ice, gradually adding splashes of club soda to ‘inflate’ the level of foam at the top. No garnish.
Sloe Season Martini
· 1 oz Plymouth Gin
· 1 oz Plymouth Sloe Gin
· ¾ oz Honey Syrup
· 1 oz Lemon juice
· 2 dashes Orange Bitters
Directions: Shake all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice, and fine-strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with an orange zest.
· 2 oz Beefeater 24
· 2 oz Fresh Pink Grapefruit juice
· 1 oz Chardonnay-honey syrup*
· 2 dashes Lemon Bitters
· Small pinch of Paprika (sweet)
*Simmer 1:1:1 Chardonnay, Honey, Water; with a few coriander seeds thrown in just to make it interesting
Directions: Add all ingredients to a mixing glass, and shake with ice. Fine-strain into a coup glass, and garnish with discarded zests of grapefruit and lemon.
· 1¾ oz Beefeater Gin
· ¼ oz Lejay Crème de Cassis
· 1 oz Cloudy Apple juice
· Top Fever Tree Elderflower Tonic Water
· 1 dash Orange Bitters
Directions: Build over ice in a highball glass, and stir. Garnish with a lemon wedge, and two currant berries.
· 1 oz Beefeater Gin
· 1 oz Becherovka
· 1 oz Dolin Dry Vermouth
Directions: Add all ingredients to a mixing glass, and stir with ice. Fine-strain into a chilled cocktail glass, and garnish with a flamed orange zest.
